What is a leader?

A leader is someone whos has the ability to lead and whos example is followed.

Rosa Lousie Parks is a leader because of what she did for the black community. Rosa Parks was tired of the way African Americans were being treated everyday with racism and segregration
One day after a long day at work as a tailor's assistant in a department store, Rosa Parks was very tired and refused to give up her seat for a white man. This was on December 1, 1955 and Parks was 43. After Parks refused the bus driver called the police and she was arrested. Her being arrested started a bus boycott, it was supposed to be a one day boycott on December 5 1955 but insead it lasted until December 20th 1956. 381 days later buses were desegregated.

In 1996 President Clinton Presented Rosa with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She also recieved the congressional gold medal in 1999.
Rosa Parks became known as the 'Mother of the civil rights movement'.

Rosa Parks in mainly a leader in society because she did something that was against the law but it was what she believe so she fought for it. This taught people to stand up for what they believe in because one person can make a difference. Rosa also taught our society that not everything in our world is right, just because there is a law preventing something does not mean that that law is right.

This also makes Rosa Parks a leader in education because not only did she teach society that everyone is equal. Children are learning about her at school so kids who probably never would have heard of Rosa Parks are learning about what she did for the black community and how she changed society forever.
